Burdenbeast

Burdenbeasts are large working animals bred for hauling weight over long distances. They are long-bodied and thick-necked, with three heavy humps running along the back. Their build is broad and low rather than fast, making them better suited to carts and freight than riding.

They are known for an unusually patient temperament. A burdenbeast may tolerate noise, waiting and poor roads with little visible concern, though sufficiently severe disturbance can still drive one to pull or bolt with considerable force.

The species also produces lipwax, a pale waxy substance collected from cheek-pouches. Fresh lipwax is soft but hardens when exposed to air. Postmasters use it for sealing bags and other travel goods.
